FOX AFFAIR: Annie Hall is this week's feature at Cinema La Placita, the ongoing classic film fundraiser for downtown's old Fox Theatre.

In case you've been hiding under a rock, the beloved Tucson movie house was closed in 1974 after more than 40 years of operation. Now the folks of La Placita Village and the Tucson Fox Theatre Foundation are donating their time--and fine film tastes--to restore the lovely venue to its former glory.

As for tonight's movie, the 1977 Academy Award Winner for Best Picture features Allen as a Brooklyn comedian recalling his chaotic former relationship with Annie Hall, played by Diane Keaton.

The film series continues at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday in La Placita Village, 110 S. Church Ave., on the southwest corner of Church Avenue and Broadway Boulevard. Admission is free, but donations are suggested. For details, call 623-2748.

THE WET SET: Take an economical dip at one of Tucson Parks and Recreation's ongoing summer pool parties. These free, evaporatively cooling extravaganzas include both teen and all-family gatherings at various city pools around town.

Teen pool parties gather on Fridays, and feature food, soft drinks, games and plenty of DJ music. This week's teen parties run from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at the Fort Lowell pool, 2900 N. Craycroft Road, and the El Pueblo pool, 5100 S. Missiondale Road.

The family party runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the same locations, and will include "Dive-In Movies," along with food and refreshments. For more information, call 791-4245.

SLOW-PITCH SALVATION: Catch some hard-driving turf action--and pump funds into Easter Seals coffers--at the Southern Arizona Softball Classic today at Golf Links Park.

Men's, women's, league and co-rec teams roar into action throughout the weekend. The cash they raise will help the charity's slew of programs in this neck o' the woods, from Respite and Recreation and Adventure Camp programs, to assistive technology and early intervention.

The competition starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 24, with a Home-Run Derby open to all at 2 p.m. Sign-up fee is $3. An all-star game starts at 7 p.m. Regular competition play continues from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25. There is no admission fee.

Golf Links Park is at 2400 S. Craycroft Road. For sign-up and other information, call 745-5222.

HARMLESS HUMOR: Family fun takes center stage at the Red Barn Theater's Good Clean Comedy Night.

The ongoing series presents amateur humor, skits, song, dance and stunts for an evening of "comedy that won't curl your hair." In other words, no offensive or disturbing content is allowed.

Good Clean Comedy Night runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday in the Red Barn Theater, 948 N. Main Ave. Admission is $1. For information, call 622-7856.
