These outside experts only validated what we as "ex" employees of the DOC have been saying all along. We don't carry the same credibility as them thus we are ignored but sooner or later, the truth shall be disclosed and exposed inside the courtrooms. I don't understand why it takes an outsiders visit and examination to bring changes when AZ has the same "experts" who are retired and still very in touch with the happenings within. Crazy how this works but whatever it takes to make changes I guess. Must be cultural thing that former employees are not worth the time to listen to when they speak about these prison conditions. Too bad, there are a lot of great retired people who could contribute so much if the political barriers weren't so cruel and ostracizing.
Regardless of what is written or said in this or any other article, this statement speaks on its own merits. The man cares where his name is used and how it is represented. I can't flaw him for that as it means he has integrity and wants to remain that way. Politics being politics, some will claim a victory while others simply "move on" and stay on the straight and narrow as much as you can these days while engaged in politics. It is a win win for everybody this man has scruples. Don't read too much into this. He might have simply said enough is enough and is seeking tranquil waters.
Substantial research conducted to show how Arizona can do better with their money. Now let's see if the powers-elect pay attention and actually support the voters in their quest for better spending of their money and re-direct on educational and other resources needed within our community.
Great read and well worth the time to educate and build awareness into the problem of criminalizing the mentally ill because of deinstitutionalization of state prisons putting the burden of treatment on jails and prisons not funded or staffed for such challenges. In time, this will have to be done as population growth require imminent action plans to handle this problem and condition within our incarcerated populations. Taxpayers should be aware of the expensive costs associated among this clientele thus should consider alternatives to incarceration to reduce costs associated with treatment AND prison costs.. the clock is ticking
