Great responses. I didn't think anyone was left who remembered when KWFM was the greatest station in the universe - entire album sides with some occasional comments by the DJ. Jerry Riopelle - SERIOUSLY? We used to see him live at the old Pawnbroker - one of the best entertainer/singer/songwriters ever. I still have to flip on Sweet Naomi once in awhile.

I should contribute so I'll toss in Procol Harum, Ten Years After and any album with Jimmy Paige or Jimmy Hendrix playing guitar.

Save Arizona from the Arizonans - The use of infer in that sentence seems correct to me. Danehy asked the woman a question and drew the conclusion that she was a moron.

Someone who is new to Tucson and reading the Weekly for the first time might be better served if they withheld their insights until they gather a bit more information. I wonder if Oracle Jayne just likes to see her name in the Top Commenters list...

Right Doug, that C Note sure is a master of logical inference.

premise 1 - 80% of southerners in the 60's opposed civil rights (and by direct inference were racist).

premise 2 - 73% of the current population approve of a measure that gives local police the authority to request documentation of citizenship.

conclusion - everyone who approves of a measure that gives local police the authority to request documentation of citizenship is racist.

It reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    - witches are made of wood
    - wood floats
    - ducks float
    - if she weighs the same as a duck, she must be a witch

I'm not sure what you do to get an Emmy in sound design, but apparently you don't need to know a helluva lot of physics nor physiology. Perceived loudness of a sound is logarithmically proportional to its sound pressure (Google Weber–Fechner law). Therefore, four planes do not sound four times as loud as one plane.

"...one F35 is as loud as four F16's. " I don't think so. Lockheed Martin has published data showing that the F35 is less than 10% louder than the F-16.

Jake and Lingo Head have both summed up this editorial quagmire concisely (and finally, one can only hope...)

Wow, am I slow. It wasn't until I read the section about how adept the little fingers were at assembling boxes that I looked at the calendar and noticed it was April 1...

    Great piece.
