Sarvana told The Range that the arrest was a planned act of civil disobedience. Grijalva was sitting on a road in a circle with other members of Congress and immigration-reform activists. When D.C. police asked them to move, they refused and the entire group was arrested.

From an ABC affiliate:

Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva was arrested Tuesday in Washington D.C., his spokesman confirmed to ABC15.

Rep. Raul Grijalva, a Democrat who represents Arizona's 3rd district, was arrested during a "planned civil disobedience" with a group of his colleagues in Washington D.C., said Adam Sarvana, his spokesman.

Sarvana said Grijalva was being booked around 1:45 p.m. (4:45 p.m. EDT) and was expected to be released by Tuesday evening.

Specific details regarding what the civil disobedience was were not immediately available.

Grijalva serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Education and The Workforce, according to his Congressional profile.
