Napier Fires Up Local GOP Crowd

Mark Napier, hoping to end Clarence Dupnik's 32-year reign as Pima County Sheriff, got some of the biggest non-way-too-early-to-be-taken-seriously-presidential-state-prediction applause, thanking the GOP gathering at the Sheraton for helping him raise three times as much money as Dupnik in the last reporting period.

Napier, who just eight months ago was finishing near-last in the Oro Valley Town Council primary, promised those on hand he would not be another Dupnik.

"I'll be—get this, a sheriff who will actually enforce our laws," Napier said, running off the podium to loud cheers.

We're still at least 50 minutes from getting some local results, though, so sit tight, and pop open another cold one.
