Tonight's your chance to hear from this year's candidates for Pima Community College's Board of Governors. Considering the tumultous year that PCC has gone through (sudden retirements; changes to admissions; a search for a new chancellor; a significant drop in enrollment for this year), these folks will have a lot to consider this evening.
From the event posting on Facebook:
Please join Las Adelitas Arizona, the League of Women Voters, and the Pima County/Tucson Women's Commission for a Candidate Forum on Education with the Pima Community College Board Candidates!
Come hear the PCC Board Candidates speak and explain their positions and visions for the future of Pima Community College.
These races are critical to our youth and the future of access to higher education in our community. Join us!
As far as we can tell, having confirmed with the League of Women Voters, all candidates for the two positions on the ballot, Districts 3 and 5, will be in attendance. That includes incumbents Vikki Marshall, District 3, and Marty Cortez, District 5. Challenging in District 3 is Sylvia Lee, former PCC Community Campus President. In District 5, the candidates are Richard Fridena, former PCC Dean of Instruction, and Francis Saitta, current PCC adjunct faculty.
The forum starts at 6 p.m. tonight, at the PCC Downtown Campus's Amethyst Room, 1255 N. Stone Ave.
