KXCI Gets All Stonewall

This Friday, June 27, KXCI celebrates Stonewall's 39th anniversary with a day of programming from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On-air hosts and content all day will feature LGBT community members, LGBT artists, musicians with discussions on history and information about the local LGBT community and of course, Stonewall Day.

I had an opportunity to interviewed Harry Hay when I lived in Los Angeles in the early '90s. While he'd be quick to remind us now that Stonewall wasn't the beginning of gay pride, I'm sure he'd be at his local Stonewall Day celebration nonetheless.

From a friend's e-mail:

Spoken pieces include: Cathy Busha from the U of A’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs, Justin Naffzinger – President of Delta Lamba Phi (the gay fraternity at the U of A), Diane Stapleton – local entrepreneur and owner of Rainbow Planet, Jai Smith – creator of the ‘Walking Names Project’ (VERY interesting! ), Jason Cianciotto – the new Executive Director of Wingspan, Kat Beck – Vice President of Students Promoting Respect for Individuality Through Example (SPRITE), Kellie Olson from the Pride Law Alliance at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the U of A, Penelope Starr – Program Coordinator for Wingspan’s Senior Pride, Richard Di Russo – Coordinator for the GLBT Services division of the Pima County Library and...  Shari Goettel, James Scott Pignatella, and Bruce Cameron from Desert Voices.

The day’s on-air hosts will be long-time KXCI DJ (and Membership & Outreach Coordinator) Randy Peterson from 7-10am on ‘Your Morning Brew’,  newly “minted” music mixer and wonderfully creative Jaime G from 10 til noon, Long-time KXCI host of ‘Broad Perspectives’ and the music mix Susie B from 1-3pm, and Mark Rosenbaum (host of ‘Jazz Sundae’) from 3 – 6pm on the ‘Home Stretch’.  (Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now will run at 12 noon, of course!)

Tune in June 27 to KXCI at 91.3 FM. For more info, go to: www.kxci.org.
