Once a year, fans of colorful Berryware line up early to elbow their way into a crowded throng of women pushing and grabbing colorful bowls and plates for much less than what they can pay in trendy gift stores. Think of a static roller derby of women who want it all, especially the lime green and turquoise polka dot pitcher and matching serving tray. Stamina, good humor and comfortable shoes are a must. Usually, the lines to pay are interminably long, and confusion runs amok, but somehow, these wanton bargain hunters persevere. At noon, after the crowds have thinned--and so has the merchandise--prices get slashed even further.
