The Rogue Theatre's New Home

The Rogue Theatre spent its first four seasons in borrowed spaces, mostly the Zuzi! Theater within the Historic Y. Zuzi's facility is problematic, mainly because sets have to be moved every night to make way for daytime dance classes. Now the Rogues have obtained a long-term lease on their very own place—a former gymnasium across the courtyard in a newer part of the same building. The company is still raising money toward its $80,000 renovation goal, but the overhead steel grid has been hung; new black velour drapes line the walls; the custom audience risers are ready; and the rest of the facility has come along nicely, just in time for the season opener by George Orwell (not 1984, but Animal Farm). Now, one of Tucson's smartest and most accomplished little companies has the home it deserves.
