We were feeling kind of plump, what with all those skinny zombies lurching about, so we decided to go off carbs. Then we strayed within a mile of Tucson original Beyond Bread--and all bets were off. The sandwiches are decadent and wholesome all at once, made with care and felicity by people who have dedicated their lives to humankind's first-ever comfort food, bread. That's not to say that the vessel overwhelms the wine, though it nearly does. The fresh fixings and top-quality meats and cheeses stuffed into the heavenly bread will keep us braving the long lunchtime lines until the end of the world, or until we finally get serious about that diet--whichever comes first.
