Rep. Raúl Grijalva

Readers Pick

Raúl Grijalva is bent on drawing attention to the needs of the people in Congressional District 7. It's been a long road since he started out on the Tucson Unified School District board in the 1970s; Grijalva worked as an assistant dean at the UA and spent years on the Pima County Board of Supervisors before he got a seat in Congress in 2003. The son of a migrant worker, he's always been vocal about immigration issues; he recently spoke out against Proposition 200 and the Secure Fence Act. Lately, he co-sponsored the Darfur for Peace and Accountability Act and is currently working to preserve land in the Tumacacori Mountains near Nogales. Call him a bleeding heart if you must, but Grijalva aggressively brings the concerns of Southern Arizona to the floor of Congress.
