Best Place to Learn About Arizona

The Steinheimer Collection

Arizona has a fascinating history, especially if you're into real-estate scams, political chicanery and the short-sighted exploitation of limited resources. But seriously, there is enough material to be mined from our young state's history for every creative writing student at the UA to produce at least one historical romance. If you'd like to get to work today, a good place to start your research is the excellent Steinheimer Collection at the main downtown library. You can't check out any of the books, donated in the 1970s by the learned Eugene C. Steinheimer family as a memorial to matriarch Elizabeth, but you can while away a day at the tables digging deep. You'll not only find works on history, but volumes on travel and natural history, and fiction as well.
