Once upon a time, the Food Conspiracy Co-op had a huge second store with a super-size deli and sandwich bar. The store was a financial mess, but a key lesson was learned: A deli and sandwich section can be mighty popular. Eventually, they got things together at the original store, and from the outset, it was clear that the star of the show was the tempeh BLT. Stuffed to the brim with a sumptuous fermented soy product, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise and sprouts, all wedged between slices of thick rye bread, this sandwich is unlike anything else in town. This is a true one-of-a-kind vegetarian-sandwich experience that even meat-loving people will enjoy.
