The downtown lunch crowd likes to frequent this full-service bistro for its light, healthy and delicious organic fare, but Café 54 is also a unique employment program for adults recovering from mental illness. Trainees work as line and prep cooks, servers, cashiers and dishwashers. Diners can enjoy delicious food—such as a jerk-chicken salad, teriyaki salmon or a spicy black-bean burger (the menu changes frequently)—in a casual and elegant setting, with some of the best service anywhere in town. Café 54's smoothie of the day is the perfect antidote to the heat. This place allows you to leave with your body—and spirit—feeling a little lighter.
