Tucson Federal Credit Union, founded in 1937 by some teachers and once housed in the basement of Tucson High, is about as local as it gets, so when their ads use the tag "Better Than a Bank" (sorry for getting that jingle stuck in your head, by the way), yeah, that's almost certainly true. We're all pretty sick of banks at this point and if you get an account at TFCU, you get to be a member and an owner of something, which is always nice. If you value trying to keep as much of your money in town as possible, TFCU's a solid option.
