A.M. Mayhem: The Untold Story of Tucson's Power 1490

There isn't much recordkeeping going on regarding Tucson's media history. People, shows and stations disappear, and life goes on, with new memories overwriting the old ones. Thankfully, Randy Williams, better known as R Dub, curator of Slow Jams, decided to put together a remembrance of Power 1490, the station he worked at as a teenager. The station officially brought hip hop to Tucson, and took on KRQ, which at the time seemed reluctant to rock the boat with anything edgier than New Kids on the Block. After 4 1/2 years, Power 1490 was gone as quickly as it arrived. A.M. Mayhem let the staff of the station say a belated goodbye, and allowed Tucson to remember an era gone by.
