Best Downfall of a Bloated Public Figure

STAFF PICK: For four years the state of Arizona was the unfortunate plaything of former jeweler Jeff Groscost. From his perch atop the state legislature as Speaker of the House, Groscost was the consummate deal-maker and backroom ball-breaker. He played Jim Jones to a group of right-wing Kool-Aid drinkers in the State House. He went too far when he railroaded the infamous alt-fuel bill through the legislature to benefit himself and other cronies in the East Valley. Groscost cost the state half a billion dollars with this scam. The voters in District 30, arguably the most conservative and most Republican district in the state (perhaps even the planet), booted him out for a Democratic challenger.
