Best Diner

Grill

Readers Pick

After all these years, Grill is still the king of the Best of Tucson® diner category. Old-timers will tell you it used to be Rallis and the Congress Grill. Open 24/7, it's got old vinyl booths and Formica tables. Fliers and independent newspapers are always available, but you can also read the menu's fine print for entertainment, as long as you bring your glasses. Bands play in the adjacent Red Room (where there are lots of cool beers on tap); the debut of Gabriel Sullivan and Taraf de Tucson here was a blast, and now look where they are. There's food, too, from a bowl of Cap'n Crunch to the famous tots and tortellini. And if we're still allowed to use phrase "to die for," it describes the amazing meatloaf with mushroom gravy. Diner heaven.
