Creating a nicely designed cake takes talent—but what takes even more talent is creating a cake that looks glamorous and tastes great, too. At Cake Boutique, the cakes are whimsical, gorgeous and, of course, delicious. Cake designer and owner Mindy Illes makes everything from traditional stacked wedding cakes to, well, cakes in the shape of just about anything—her website has a gallery where you can see pictures of hamburger cakes and helicopter cakes. On a recent visit, a turtle cake was resting peacefully on a shelf. The boutique also sells cupcakes, brownies and cake truffles (little balls of cake rolled in frosting—pastry finger food, if you will).
