For pet-obsessed households—whether the home is filled with hermit crabs, fish bowls, dogs and cats, or whether Mom is allergic and kids dream of time with animals they wish they could have—this is the place. It's surprising how many people don't know that the Humane Society offers a place for kids during school breaks to learn about desert animals and the animals they have at home, with hands-on sessions with kittens, puppies, dogs and even ferrets. It's a great way to give the kiddies some pet-play time—while helping shelter animals socialize. The camp's leaders also teach kids about the importance of caring for all animals in our community.
