I've known the story of Doug Hopkins for years. I've lived most of my life as a survivor of a loved one who committed suicide. No one else gets that feeling unless they've been though it themselves.
He's not wearing a band-aid across his nose, he's wearing a Breathe Right strip which looks nothing like a band aid. It's used for people with allergy, sinus or breathing problems. If you plan to use it in the story but you don't know what it is, ask. To do otherwise is just lazy journalism.
