2008 Fall Club Crawl™ F.A.Q.

comment
As the development of downtown continues, we frequently get questions about construction, street closures and parking. Let's address all three.

How will construction and the street closures affect things?

The good news is that some downtown construction projects are definitely progressing. One North Fifth and a massive parking garage are going in next to Hotel Congress. The Fourth Avenue underpass is well on its way to being completed. (The bad news: It will probably be another year until it's actually finished.) The only construction that will directly impact Fall Club Crawl™ is that closure of the Fourth Avenue underpass.

As far as the street-closure goes, we'll close down Congress Street at noon on Saturday so we can set up our outdoor stages. Broadway Boulevard will then be converted into a two-way street from Fourth Avenue to Sixth Avenue. Regular westbound traffic on Congress Street will resume at Sixth Avenue.

We recommend entering downtown either from the north via Stone Avenue, or from the south via Sixth Avenue, to avoid delays.

How do I walk from Fourth Avenue to Congress Street?

The Fourth Avenue underpass remains closed, but pedestrians have two main ways to go from Fourth Avenue to Congress Street. You can take a five-minute walk down either Eighth or Seventh streets west to the Sixth Avenue underpass. Once you come up from the underpass, you will be at Toole Avenue, which is 1 1/2 blocks north of Hotel Congress and the main entrance into Club Crawl™, at Toole and Congress.

The other option is to catch the Redline shuttle at Fourth Avenue and Seventh Street, or at the intersection of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue. The shuttle will drop riders downtown at Pennington Street and Toole, just north of the Club Crawl™ main entrance. Three shuttles will run continuously until 1 a.m.

Where should I park?

The closest big parking garage to Club Crawl™ is one block away at the corner of Pennington Street and Avenue. The best way to access the garage is to head south on Stone Avenue to Pennington, then head east to the Scott Street entrance, or to head north on Sixth Avenue to Pennington and the entrance. There are 750 parking spots, and the price is only $2 for the entire night.

There are also 1,000 on-street parking-meter spaces near Club Crawl™ that are free after 5 p.m. With four other large parking garages nearby, the total number of parking spaces downtown totals 14,000. For more parking information, check out Tucson's Parkwise Web site.
