Get Well, Tiger

We have some good news and some bad news. Bad news: Tom Ziegler, legendary Tucson Bartender also known as Tiger, was in a car accident earlier this week, according to the Hotel Congress Facebook page. Good news: Tiger is doing alright and will be released on Monday.

Here's the official word from Congress:
Tucson’s favorite bartender, Tiger, was in a fairly serious car accident earlier this week. Broken bones in his neck have resulted in surgery but his doctors say he’s doing well and should be released Monday. However, with a long road of physical therapy ahead, they have no idea when he will return to his beloved Tap Room. There is a get well card at the hotel’s front desk in the lobby and we are asking for all of you - his friends, patrons and bar buddies to come down and sign it to show your love and support for the most fantastic man we know. The card will be available to sign through Sunday until 2pm. So please come down and put your well-wishes to pen for our dear Tiger.
Tiger has been bartending in his Tap Room for 55 years. Click here to read David Mendez's cover story on on the 80-year-old local icon.

For obvious reasons, it's one our favorites:
"Let me tell you something: Every person who comes through that door is a star. They're a celebrity," he said. "They've got a reason to come in and see me and spend their money when there's a hundred other bars in Tucson. As long as they behave themselves and don't bother my ladies, they're all celebrities.

"Black, white, green, purple, rich, poor, hobo—as long as they're clean and they behave themselves ... I don't care if it's the poorest guy in shredded clothes. As long as he's clean, he's going to get the same service as Howard Hughes."
Get well, Tiger.
