We love it when arts converge! Continents, politics ... even better. So we dispatched C. Elliott to bring you photographs of a French-flavored graphic novel's debut set in a concert by some of Tucson's most Tucson-y musicians: Howe Gelb, of course, plus Gabriel Sullivan, Brian Lopez, William Sedlmayr and Chris Black.

French graphic designer Nicolas Moog spent October and November 2012 in Tucson observing in a writerly way the lives of those same musicians, the scale of the town we live in, and the feel of our share of mountains, dust and vast, strange, evocative desert. All the while, Barack Obama was campaigning for another term, and the static of that was everywhere on low hum.

Moog returned to celebrate the finished work, surrounded by the music of his subjects, on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Café Passé
