I recently chatted with "JT Nightclubs," an owner and partner in Congress Street Clubs on Facebook. When I asked JT what the status was on Voodoo Jack's Lounge (A lounge on Congress Street near Scott Avenue that has had its grand opening postponed since late 2012) he said the recent fire at The Grill caused delays.

JT went on to tell me that Voodoo Jack's Lounge was no longer their main focus, as they were working on reopening the bottom floor of Sapphire Lounge, calling it H20, and possibly making it an incredibly exclusive nightclub. He described the club as:

...the most technologically impressive nightclub in the state. Between the all-LED ceiling, bubble walls, and other technological upgrades, it will be unrivaled.

The club is supposed to be open in two to four weeks, but I'm not holding my breath. These guys have been trying to open Voodoo Jack's Lounge since November and look what happened there.

JT also said H2O might be a member's only club, and compared it to the Mountain Oyster Club but for younger people. I asked what the likelihood was that it would be exclusive to which he replied, "we are torn."

JT went on to say: "It's going to be something Arizona has never seen before. So by making it exclusive lots of people won't see it."

Contradicting much? Sure, if you make it exclusive it WILL be something Arizonans have never seen before, nor will they get the chance. He said they "risk" having long lines too; until yesterday, I don't think I've ever met a business owner who considered a long line outside their business a risk.

If people pay for a membership, there will have to be (I'm guessing) a limit of how many memberships they can sell. Now, maybe if it were a VIP area like the one at Zen Rock where people reserve access on a weekly or daily basis this would make more sense. But giving the group of members access and no one else doesn't seem like most Tucsonans will be pleased.

Guess we'll have to see what they decide in the next two to four weeks. As for Voodoo Jack's Lounge, JT said there's discussions about redoing that concept, again (sigh!). Apparently nothing is set in stone yet for that space.
