Behind the Scenes at the Circus

- House Troupe performers Xia Bin, left, Zhang Delong, Yin Yupeng, Chang Wenfeng and Luo Shaohua rehearse the Dralion sequence where one of the dragons jump onto a giant ball. The performers, 26 in all, are from Shandong, China. Seventeen nationalities are represented in Dralion.
Take a look behind the scenes of Cirque's Dralion, which will be in Tucson until Sunday.

- Kevin Chung, a prop technician for Dralion, makes opening-day fixes to one of the Bamboo Pole props while the house troupe practice on stage.

- Lindsay Derr, a publicist with Barclay Communications who is working for Dralion while they are in Arizona, walks through backstage during the behind-the-scenes visit. Derr was surrounded by colorful props, contraptions and performers who were stretching and preparing for opening night in Tucson.

- Luo Shaohua and Jing Zongchao, holding the hoop, rehearse for the breathtaking Hoop Diving act for Dralion. The Hoop Diving act presents a breathtaking display of acrobatics to heart-pounding stoccato music later on during the show.

- Ma Fei, a House Troupe member, backflips through the hoop during the rehearsal for Hoop Diving for Dralion. Jing Zongchao, holding the hoop, Li Tao and Luo Shaohua are part of the contingent that perform the crowd-pleasing act during the second half of the show on opening night.
