The Only Two Things You Need to Know About the Emmys

1. Nick Offerman wasn't nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his brilliant portrayal of Ron Swanson. However, seemingly the entire male cast of Modern Family was. Amy Poehler correctly assessed the injustice:

But it's a hot load of bullshit that he didn't get a nomination, and you can quote me on that. But I suspect and hope that will change. And certainly that field, there's a lot of talented men vying for that position. If you asked Nick, he'd say the show is represented. But I would say his work on the show is the best stuff on TV, and he deserves every award. A lot of people don't know that Nick designed all of the costumes in "Game of Thrones."

2. Emmy statistics for the late, lamented HBO show The Wire. Two nominations, no wins, once losing to an episode of House. Statistics for the somewhat enjoyable, but nearly entirely disposable HBO show Entourage?: 25 nominations, four wins.
