The Artist Salvador Duran at MAST

Look, ever since the Festival en el Barrio Viejo last weekend, I have been unable to get Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta's mambo version of "Lupita," sung by Salvador Duran, out of my mind. I didn't bother to get the performance on video, because how could I do that and dance at the same time? (Although I learned a great lesson last weekend: Don't use the speakers by the stage for a tripod. Just don't).

I doubt that when Salvador Duran shows up at his art opening (yes, the man paints!) at MAST on Friday (tomorrow), April 9, 7 p.m. at 299 S. Park Ave., that he's bringing Sergio with him to do "Lupita." I'll listen to anything he sings or stomps on, so I'm going to go. He's expected to perform with some special guests, and I want to see more of this other side of him as a painter.

Also, since my Facebook campaign to get Mr. Duran to adopt me has pretty much failed, I guess I could buy some of his art—and so can you.
