Dog of the Day: Doc

Doc is among the dogs that the folks at Cold Wet Noses are trying to find a home for.

Here's what Doc has to say at tucsoncoldwetnoses.com:

Doc is a 10-12 month old Pit/ Sharpei mix. The Sharpei is more obvious in person, he has a wrinkled brow and a big bark (as if from a 90lb dog vs his 47lbs). I think the pit is what makes him the snuggler he is. He would love to be a lap dog.

He is a sweet dog — just don’t ask my older pitbull Rose. He annoyed her and now can’t shake her, she has picked several fights with him, that he has not backed down from; though now he goes far out of his way to avoid her. I have two other males that he gets along great with. He does not do well with cats (unless having them for lunch sounds like a good idea), I have never had him around children. He has never shown any aggression towards people, he is not food aggressive. He is crate trained for nighttime, though would far prefer to sleep with you. Does well with housetraining (needs to be reminded to go now and then). I have been using a halter for walks — he has done very well with this method and is not pulling at all. He can be dog aggressive on walks.

Doc is a really great dog. He would do well in a house with a submissive male (like my other two here are) or as a single dog. Definitely no cats. He is not overly energetic, bouncy, does not jump up. Loves to play with a ball or rope toy. He has responded very well to the training we have had time to give him. His biggest charm is how loving he is. A bit shy at first, he quickly cuddles up and shows what a people dog he is. He will play with other dogs but he likes to be with his human best.
