The Nature Conservancy recently honored several Arizonans for their conservation efforts. Our own Carolyn Campbell was recognized for her work. Congratulations!

From the press release:

Carolyn Campbell, executive director of the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection in Pima County, received The Joseph Wood Krutch Conservation Award for outstanding conservation achievement in the private sector. Under Campbell’s leadership, the Coalition played an instrumental role in developing public and political support for Pima County’s Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan. In 2004, Campbell worked with the Pima County Board of Supervisors to build support for the $174 million open space bond initiative. As of July, this bond funding secured long-term conservation on more than 40,000 acres across eastern Pima County, and more than 130,000 acres of ecologically important state trust lands are now under county conservation management.
